A few seconds ago, SpaceX successfully launched another Falcon 9 launch vehicle, sending another batch of 57 Internet satellites into orbit as part of the Starlink 9 v1.0 mission and two BlackSky Global 7 and 8 satellite satellites under the SmallSat Rideshare Program. This is the tenth launch in the interests of the Starlink project, initially this launch was planned for June 22, but was postponed several times for various reasons. The launch is streamed live on SpaceX’s YouTube channel.
As part of the Starlink 7 mission, the first Starlink satellite, codenamed VisorSat, went into orbit with a deployable sun visor to limit the vehicle’s reflectivity. This is necessary so that satellites do not interfere with observations of the starry sky from the ground. Learn more about SpaceX’s collaboration with astronomers on the company’s website. All Starlink 9 satellites have this special coverage.
