American electric car manufacturer Rivian has specified the release dates for its first cars – the Rivian R1T electric pickup and the Rivian R1S crossover. Pre-order customers will have to be patient and wait a little longer.
Recall that at the beginning of the year, due to the coronavirus, Rivian delayed the start of mass production of Rivian R1T and Rivian R1S from 2020 to 2021. Now the company, which is called Tesla’s “nightmare” – we have already written about it more than once – has told customers more precise terms: deliveries of Rivian R1T pickups will begin in June 2021, and shipments of R1S crossovers will begin two months later – in August 2021 th.
In making the announcement, the manufacturer mentioned the recent launch of a pilot production and stated that it is confident in the timing.
So far, the Rivian R1T pickup and the Rivian R1S crossover are the only models officially unveiled by Rivian. Both will be produced at the former Mitsubishi plant in Illinois. But not so long ago, Rivian patented the R1V and R2X trademarks. Presumably, this is the company’s future minivan and rally SUV.
Just last week it became known that Tesla filed a lawsuit against Rivian, accusing the manufacturer of conspiring with former employees and stealing confidential information. You can also recall that at the beginning of the year, Rivian lost its chief technical officer. But let’s hope that in the end, Rivian will succeed, and its cars, which have repeatedly become heroes of spectacular commercials (like this one), will reach the market.
