A new national brand of electric vehicles Izera was presented in Poland, within which two unnamed prototypes have already been created – a crossover and a hatchback. The prototype developer is the state-controlled joint venture ElectroMobility Poland, founded in October 2016 by the four local companies PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA, Energa SA, Enea SA and Tauron Polska Energia SA.
The brand got its name thanks to the Jizera Mountains, a mountain range on the border of the Czech Republic and Poland. The design of the models was created jointly by Polish engineers and designers from the Italian studio Torino Design.
From the technical characteristics, the creators announced only two options for battery capacity, a cruising range of 400 km (most likely for a more capacious battery) and acceleration to 100 km / h in less than 8 seconds. It also claims support for high-speed charging, a mobile application for remote control, cost-effective LED lighting, voice commands, a touch interface, as well as a full range of security systems, including ESC, FCW, BSW, TSR, etc.
Serial production of Izera electric vehicles is going to start in 2023. ElectroMobility Poland expects to use a platform from one of the market leaders, for example, VW MEB from Volkswagen, as the basis for its electric vehicles, but the company has not yet reached a final agreement (Fisker chose a similar development option).
Note that Poland is the largest country in Europe, which currently does not have its own car brand (the most famous – Fabryka Samochodow Osobowych, FSO – worked until 2002). At the same time, the automotive industry is the second largest industrial sector in the country, in which 200 thousand people are employed in manufacturing and another 270 thousand in car sales.
Recall that Turkey has recently presented its own national electric vehicle project, announcing a sedan and a crossover under the TOGG brand.
