Concurrently with the announcement of the updated 27-inch iMac, Apple made another important management change announcement – Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller will step down from his position since 1997. At the same time, he started his career at Apple ten years earlier – in 1987.
Phil Schiller, who recently turned 60, will continue to work at Apple. He will remain in charge of the App Store and Apple Events, but in a different role as Apple Fellow. He will also become an Apple Fellowship. This “brotherhood” includes the company’s employees who have made a huge contribution to its development.
The specific reasons for leaving are not disclosed, and Phil Schiller himself does not name them, using a formulaic wording about the desire to spend more time with his family and engage in personal projects. But, most likely, here is really the most common way out for a well-deserved rest.
“I will continue to work here, but I also want to devote more time in the coming years to my family, friends and a few personal projects.”
Phil Schiller, former Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing
Apple’s board of directors has already found and announced a successor – his top manager Greg Joswiak will replace Phil Schiller. He has led Apple’s product marketing for over 20 years and has served as the company’s vice president of product marketing for the past four years.
You can recall that over the past year Apple has already lost two leaders – in November 2019, the famous designer Jony Ive left the company, who worked as the chief designer of Apple for almost 30 years.
