In 2021, Belarus will launch the assembly of electric vehicles based on the Chinese model Geely Geometry A with a power reserve of 500 km; by the end of the year, they plan to sell more than 1,000 units at a price of less than $ 28,600

Belarus is going to start serial assembly of electric vehicles at the local enterprise “Belji”, based on the Chinese electric car Geely Geometry A. The owners of the model are promised a cruising range of 500 km and the price tag is half that of competitors.

The Belarusian electric car will be offered in two trim levels – basic and premium, while the cost of the most expensive version will not exceed $ 28,600. Note that in China, the Geometry A sedan is selling for $ 31,300, excluding local subsidies.

By the end of 2021, the plant is going to assemble and sell more than 1,000 of these electric vehicles. At the moment, Belji’s specialists are working on localizing the control system and adapting the charger to the European standard.

Note that the power of the Geely Geometry A electric motor is 163 hp. (250 Nm), which allows this 4.7-meter sedan to accelerate to 100 km / h in 8.8 seconds (top speed is limited to 150 km / h). China offers a choice of two battery versions – 51.9 kWh and 61.9 kWh, which provides a range of 400 km and 500 km, respectively, according to the NEDC cycle. Apparently, the main characteristics of the “Belarusian electric car” will be similar to the Chinese prototype.

As a reminder, back in 2017, the first Belarusian electric car based on the Chinese sedan Geely SC7 was presented in Belarus. At the same time, the president of the country tested the Tesla Model S and instructed the developers of the first Belarusian electric car to be equal to its level. In 2018, the assembly of Chinese Zotye E200EV electric vehicles with a power reserve of 220 km started in Belarus, and last year Belarusian scientists developed three electric vehicles of their own design at once.
