Huawei has updated its Matebook D 14 and Matebook D 15 laptops from last year. The newer versions have received more modern AMD Ryzen 4000 series APUs (codenamed Renoir), manufactured using 7nm process technology.
The devices are manufactured in a metal case. The hinges used allow the display to open 180 degrees. The MateBook D 14 features a 14-inch FullView IPS display with Full HD resolution. The screen occupies 84% of the lid surface. The Matebook D 15 version contains a 15.6-inch display with the same resolution, but in this case its ratio to the size of the lid is increased to 87%.
Consumers are offered systems with APUs based on the Zen 2 architecture. The base configuration is a 6-core Ryzen 5 4500U processor that supports 6 instruction streams, operates at a nominal frequency of 2.3 GHz and is able to dynamically increase the frequency to 4.0 GHz. For more demanding users, a configuration with an 8-core Ryzen 7 4700U processor is available. It supports 8 instruction streams, runs at 2.0 GHz and can automatically overclock to 4.1 GHz.
The other system components are the same for both configurations. The laptops have 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB M.2 PCIe SSD is also installed. The more compact model Matebook D 14 is 15.9 mm thick and weighs 1.38 kg. The battery capacity is 56 Wh. The Matebook D 15 version is 16.9 mm thick and weighs 1.53 kg. Interestingly, the battery capacity in the larger model turned out to be less – 42 Wh. Both models come with a 65W charger.
The new Huawei MateBook D 14 and Matebook D 15 laptops will go on sale soon, starting at $ 584. Detailed prices for each modification are presented in the following table.
