The Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has accused Intel of infringing its FinFET patent.
On July 28, the Patent Review Committee heard a statement saying Intel had infringed patent 201110240931.5, commonly referred to as the FinFET patent. This patent dates from 2011. He came from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in particular, from its subdivision – the Institute of Microelectronics.
In damages for patent infringement, Chinese patent holders are demanding compensation in the amount of 200 million yuan, which at the current exchange rate is about $ 28.7 million. Rights holders call this patent infringement a serious violation on the part of Intel, which could lead to lawsuits. All of Intel’s semiconductor products use FinFET technology, and it is a material infringement if it really misused someone else’s patent.
