Beeline began construction of a 5G-Ready network at all stations, crossings and tunnels of the Moscow metro. According to the plan, subscribers will receive access to high-speed mobile Internet at the end of November 2020.
5G-Ready is currently running on LTE Advanced and LTE Advanced Pro technologies. The NB-IoT Internet of Things works on the same equipment. Upon completion of the work, the number of base stations will almost double compared to last year, and its own 450 km long radiating cable will be completely modernized.
The network is already available at 61 of 218 underground stations: from Barrikadnaya to Planernaya on the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line, as well as Lermontovsky prospect, Zhulebino and Kotelniki; from Savelovskaya to Rasskazovka on the Solntsevskaya line; from Kommunarka to Troparevo on the Sokolnicheskaya line; from Butyrskaya to Seligerskaya and from Borisovo to Zyablikovo on Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya, from Lefortovo to Nekrasovka on the Nekrasovskaya line, and others.
First of all, Beeline will provide continuous voice communication for lines that can accommodate up to 60% of total metro traffic per month: Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya, Zamoskvoretskaya, Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya. The second stage of the 5G-Ready network will be launched on the remaining metro lines.
The construction of a 5G-Ready network in the metro is part of the Moscow # SuperCity network development project, which was launched in 2018. According to him, this year the construction of new base stations in residential complexes, cottage settlements, auto and railway roads, etc. will continue.
Huawei is partnering in both parts. Thus, the network will operate on the infrastructure of one vendor.
Recall that recently MTS received a license to use the 5G / IMT-2020 standard in the 24.25-24.65 GHz band. At the moment, the operator is testing 5G use cases for industrial and business cases.
