The conflict between the 1 + 1 media group and the Lanet provider ended with the media group’s statement on the termination of the agreement on broadcasting the group’s TV channels in the provider’s network from August 1, 2020. Thus, starting from this date, Lanet subscribers will become unavailable channels 1 + 1, 2 + 2, TET, Plusplus, UNIAN TV, Curlers, FilmUA Drama, Bolt, Kvartal TV, Star Family, Star Cinema, Kyc-Kyc, 36, 6.

The following is the text of the “1 + 1 media” statement:

“Group 1 + 1 media informs that from August 1, 2020 it will cease cooperation with the Lanet provider (Lanet Network LLC) due to the early termination of the agreement, about which Lanet Network LLC was warned by an official letter dated June 23, 2020 with ref. No. 181151.

Unfortunately, we were unable to come to an agreement with Network Lanet LLC on a number of fundamental points, which makes further cooperation impossible.

From August 1, 2020, the following channels will become unavailable to the Lanet LLC subscribers: 1 + 1, 2 + 2, TET, Plusplus, UNIAN TV, Hair Curlers, FilmUA Drama, Bolt, Kvartal TV, Star Family, Star Cinema, Kyc-Kyc , 36.6.

We apologize to our regular viewers, who have become hostages of the situation and will be left without access to the listed channels that are distributed by the 1 + 1 media group ”.

Note that on July 13, 2020, Lanet, the Internet and cable TV provider, accused the 1 + 1 media group of putting pressure on cable TV providers. The company representatives said that 1 + 1 media is resorting to non-competitive methods of fighting small TV channels, trying to hinder their activities with the hands of large providers.

The company said that the management of Seti Lanet received a phone call from Andrei Malchevsky, director of the department for distribution and development of the broadcasting network of the 1 + 1 media group. In the conversation, the representative of the media group insisted on disconnecting from the Lanet TV packages a number of TV channels, the signal of which is available on the satellite in unencrypted form. In particular, the list of such channels includes: Sun, Trophy, Science, Fauna, Terra, XSport, EkoTV, Malysh, Niki Kids, Niki Junior, EUMusic, 4ever music and others.

Andrei Malchevsky also said that in order to speed up the decision-making, a letter on termination of cooperation will be sent to Network Lanet. Having received such a letter dated 06/23/2020, Lanet Network tried to resolve the situation and offered 1 + 1 Media to withdraw the termination of the contract. However, the management of the media group rejected all appeals.

The provider claims that direct pressure from 1 + 1 media, which takes advantage of its position in the market, aims to harm small niche TV channels and deny them access to viewers. Lanet network cooperates with independent Ukrainian broadcasters, guided by the audience’s interest in filling TV channels, carefully observing the established conditions of cooperation, despite the size and scale of the TV channel.

“Intervention by 1 + 1 media in the economic activities of the Lanet Network is unacceptable, and also hinders virtuous relationships with other market players. In this regard, Lanet Network calls on peers in the market who are also under pressure, the media community and viewers who value the opportunity to choose, to join in condemning such steps. The company demands from the management of “1 + 1 media” to refrain from non-competitive methods of pressure on providers and independent broadcasters. For its part, Network Lanet strives to continue rebroadcasting both 1 + 1 and Sun, and all other TV channels within the framework of the current content of the packages and guided by previously concluded agreements. ”
